That "Homey Feeling"

I like to think of my home as a Safe Haven for me and My Mr. Handsome. I have certain things in my home that I would like to think that it gives a "Homey Feeling" to those who enter. I also like to know that it's kept neat and tidy for my Mr. Handsome to come home to after a long day at work.

In my kitchen while washing dishes I love to look outside my window. It always helps to have nice little "pretties" sitting on the window sill to look at also. The majority of the things that I have in my home were either given to me, bought at flea markets or I inherited when my parents went home to Glory.

I love my kitchen wall. It's full of antique items that I've collected over the years.
It's always nice to have a little Country Decor hanging around. The pan belonged to my parents and the two coffee pots belonged to my grandparents. The clock was a gift to me from my sister Emilie. My Mr. Handsome made the shelf and the Welcome sign was purchased years ago when we traveled to Ohio for a Home school Convention. 💟
Family Pictures......Or as I like to call them.....Family Memories. It seems that almost every inch of my wall space is taken by a family picture.
My Reading Nook. Every good book deserves to have a special place to be read. The rocker belonged to my Grandfather Andrew Thibodeaux, The quilt on the rocker was purchased on Clearance from my favorite Restaurant/Country Store, Cracker Barrel. The rug was made by my daughter Jordan. (It's made with old flour sacks that belonged to my Old Aunt Vie). The little table was made by my daddy and the basket was made by a Sweet friend of my daughters, Anna Webster Rose.
My little table is adorned with an Old Sea Shell that my daddy brought home from
overseas, when he was in WWII, the antique lamp and the crocheted scarf were a gift from my daughter Sarah. The handkerchief and old glasses belonged to my mom-ma. The Angel ornament hanging on the curtain hook belonged to my older sister Mary who died from Alzhemiers at the age of 61.
This table sits next to my rocker. It's adorned with a lamp that my daughter Celeste got me for my birthday, along with other little items that I cherish.
Every home needs a book shelf of really good books. This shelf is filled with my study books. They are mostly on teachings on how to be a Godly Wife, Mother, Keeper of the Home and how to raise children.
This bookshelf is mostly books on Herbs, Old Fashion Remedies and Country Living. There's more bookshelves through out the house. When we first got married, my Mr. Handsome asked me....."Why do you have SOOO many books", I told him....."They are not just my books, but they are my friends." 😀

A table beautifully decorated is always a pleasure to eat on. My Mr. Handsome made this table for me this past Christmas out of Cypress Wood that is over 100 years old.
My Hosier Hutch. I've been having this hutch for quite a number of years now. It was bought for me by my late husband. When he bought it for me there was no room in our van to take it home, so one of the children had to sit on the floor underneath it. Poor baby.

I love to have soft soothing music playing, it sets such a peaceful atmosphere. I love my Joey and Rory CD's. I play them most every day on my record player that I inherited from my daddy.
No home is complete without a shelf full of cookbooks and baking supplies. My grandchildren always said that every time they come to my house.....I try to fatten them up. LOL

More cookbooks and some of my herbs. I started keeping my essential oils upstairs where I use them mostly.

Well, I hope you've enjoyed some of my "homey" touches. Next time, I'll show you some of the things I have in my home that make my life a little easier. Till then.....💕
