When I'm cooking in the kitchen, I like to have a "garbage bowl". A Garbage bowl is any large bowl I may have on hand that I'll use as I'm preparing a meal. I'll use the garbage bowl instead of going back and forth to the garbage can 50 million times, I just put it in the "garbage bowl."
But, I first put a plastic "wal-mart" bag inside of the bowl.
This helps to keep the bowl clean.
And When I'm done, .......
I tie up the bag and toss it into the trash can. This saves me a lot of time and steps.
And the bowl didn't even get dirty. 😍
My next gadget is my "onion chopping gadget". I have VERY sensitive eyes 👀 and this item really helps me out. I peel the onions that I'll be using.
I'll put them into the clear plastic bowl part.
Put the cover on and turn the handle and........Presto.....
CHOPPED ONIONS..........
and I didn't shed a tear. 😀
My old Faithful Coffee Pot. This coffee pot is quite large and can hold quite a bit of liquid. I've removed the "inner" parts and only use the pot. When I'm cooking I fill it up with HOT water and put it on the back burner and keep it on a low setting to keep the water nice and hot. So, when I'm needing to add some water to a pot, I have it already on the stove and when I pour the water into the HOT pot, I'm not adding luke warm water and then have to wait for the water to get to boiling in my pot again.
I like to have a LARGE selection of cooking utensils on hand. You never know what size OR how many you may need. I actually had a LOT more, but I shared some with my daughter.
These are my dish washing towels. My daughters Jordan and Sarah crocheted these for me. These are the only towels that I use to wash my dishes with. They are strong, sturdy and are very pretty.
I have a nice selection of pot holders on hand. I like to have a variety in size and thickness. With the amount that I have on hand, if I need to throw a couple in the wash, then I'm not lacking.
My Cooking Oil bottle. This one stays right next to my stove, that way it's on hand whenever I'm needing to add some oil real quick to a meal. I only use Coconut Oil. This bottle holds the liquid one, I also use the solid one.
It's always nice to have something pretty to rest your cooking utensil on. That way when you're done cooking and cleaning up, you can just pop it into the dishwasher and you don't have all of that food mess all over your cabinet.
A nice supply of dish towels. I like to keep mine in a basket on my counter top, that way they are right in site and I just have to grab one instead of trying to pull one out of a drawer.
A supply of different spices can add some Awesome Flavor to any meal.
You can also never have to many knives. When using knives I really prefer the RADA knives. They are just my preference. And it's always nice to keep them sharp so when you need to cut into a half frozen chunk of meat.......all you have to do is grab one and it's ready to do some serious cutting.
A nice supply of Homegrown Herbs are always good to have. I like to grow my own herbs or I'll buy them online from the BULK HERB STORE https://www.bulkherbstore.com/
out of Tennessee. Nothing like the added Flavor of homegrown Herbs in any dish.
I love to Label my pantry items. I use my Silhouette to make my labels and then I use a Chalk Marker to add what is in each jar. I also like to transfer my foods into glass jars. I don't care for plastic and when something comes in a box, I normally transfer it into a glass jar.
AND last of all........EVERY homemaker should have a ready supply of Aprons on hand. Some of these I made myself and a few of them were made and given to me by a dear friend that lives in Indiana, Cathy Russell. The white one on the left was embroidered and given to me by my daughter Sandy......cause she loves her mom-ma. 😍
Well Ladies, That's it for now. I hope that you've enjoyed my little tid-bits on things that I use to help me to make things easier in my home. And hopefully you'll "glean" some things from today's post, cause that's what this blog is all about......"Teaching, Learning and Sharing" Till next time. 💕
