Here are a few tips that I like to use around the house that helps me to save time.
One Of my favorite time savers is making a Big Pot full of precooked rice. I only use Brown Rice, so it's always good to have some extra on hand. Especially since it takes quite some time for it to become tender.
I fill up my pot (which happens to have belonged to my Mom-ma) with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, I add a few cups of rice and a couple Tablespoons of butter/cooking oil/Lard. The oil helps the rice not to stick together in clumps.
During the boiling stage I give it a stir once in a while. I test the rices tenderness by scooping out a few grains in a teaspoon. If it's tender, put a strainer into the sink and pour the contents into the strainer and then rinse the rice.
Once the rice is rinsed, put enough rice into a ziplock bag to serve two people.
Then put the bags in the freezer and when rice is needed, just pull out one of the ziplock bags and put it into some HOT water to defrost it.
Some of you may already know that I am a "Soap Maker."
I love making my homemade soap out of ALL natural ingredients. Although one batch of Honey and Oatmeal Soap was a total flop, Once I unmolded the blocks of soap it was VERY HARD and crumbly. So I thought......How can I reuse it without wasting 24 bars. LAUNDRY DETERGENT!!!!!
First I chopped the soap into small chunks and then
I put a pot of water on the stove and got it to a good rolling boil and then drop the soap crumbles into the pot.
And began stirring until the soap crumbles were dissolved. At one point it began to start to boil over, so I had to take it off of the fire and restart on a low flame.
Once all of the soap crumbles were completely melted, I allowed it to cool down and then transferred the liquid LAUNDRY detergent into containers.
There it is.......Homemade Laundry Detergent.
I pray that these lil tid bits from my home will bless you.
I pray God's Blessings, Peace and Happiness on you and your life and family.
